The POLONEZ Song and Dance Ensemble is a vibrant and expanding dance ensemble, open to everybody, celebrating its 60th anniversary in style, with a Gala concert in 2025.
POLONEZ was formed in 1965, in order to practise and promote Polish song & dance, it has performed widely in Victoria, around Australia and overseas in Poland, Lithuania and Ukraine. It has attended all 16 Polish National Arts Festivals (PolArt) held throughout Australia, 3 Festivals of Polish Dance Ensembles from around the world, held in Rzeszów, Poland, and performed in Lithuania, and Lviv, Ukraine at the Lviv Opera House.
The Ensemble supports local Polish and multicultural community events, organises the Polish debutante balls, and regularly presents full length concerts.
POLONEZ has always been a family-oriented community ensemble, based very much within the core of Polish community and organisational life in Melbourne, from which it draws its strength, support and inspiration.
Barbara Czech OAM is the Artistic Director, Helene Miałszygrosz, instructor, of the Junior and Intermediate sections.
Established in Melbourne in 1975, Łowicz Polish Vocal-Dance Ensemble has dedicated over 50 years to proudly promoting Polish folkloric culture through dance and song. Founded by Krystyna Straszynska with eight original members, Łowicz has grown into a vibrant ensemble that is active within both the Polish and wider communities, organising and performing at multicultural concerts, galas, and fundraising events, as well as participating in numerous interstate festivals, including the triennial PolArt Festival.
In 2016, the ensemble proudly introduced its junior group, ‘Łowiczaki’. Comprising young dancers aged 5 to 12, Łowiczaki bring traditional Polish folk dances to life with energy and enthusiasm, showcasing their Polish heritage through vibrant costumes and engaging choreography.
In 2026, the heart of Łowicz continues to lie in the passion of its members and the dedication of its artistic team. Under the artistic direction of Natalia Szymanski, who teaches the senior group with assistance from Natalie Bara, and with Michal Harla teaching the junior Łowiczaki, the ensemble continues to flourish. Together, they strive to preserve and share the rich traditions of Polish folk music and dance while inspiring new generations to connect with and celebrate their Polish heritage across Melbourne and beyond.
